Road trip. Drove up with a bunch of my best buds and met a couple more in Boston the night before. The $10 shots at CHEERS were not worth it oh well

.Wow was it a HOT one outside on this day. Only adding to the intensity was the friendly comics peanuts character " Woodstock" doses we found.. Once those melted in we eventually heard music and went inside. When they started with Playin I was a bit taken back and actually thought we missed the first set at first. Asked someone found out not the case. When it slid right into Crazy Fingers I knew we were on our way. I will tell you what Mr. Healy had the sound dialed in perfect for a stadium show. Friend of devil to open 2nd set? and u should have seen Brents eyes bugging out of his head during the Fantasy - Hey Jude

bad it doesn't have Jerry's "How y'all doing" at the start, but I'll patch that in from one of the other sources (using "Audacity" -- free, easy, good quality audio software) for my own copy. Really great show; happy to say I was there.

Always thought Rich Gaswirt's spaced omni effort was a great blessing to have but listening to Dan Tepper's digital recording using LD mics in a XY is

just as impressive! The recording seems to be more upfront than Gaswirt's and this show is a highlight of 89. A must listen!

The Sullivan Stadium began the Grateful Dead stadium summer tour of 1989. A tour that has been heavily recognized through releases as one of the best in

their later years. This particular show is unique for MANY different reasons, aside from exceptional X-Factor performance quality.
The unusual Playin' In The Band -> UJB opener (first since Boulder 1980?) and of course the connectivity between the players and in particular Jerry playing bandleader! Yes he started this tour on the highest of high notes with souring leads and his cohert Mydland by his side equalling enthusiasm with his heavy B-3.
Best ever performance of Dear Mr. Fantasy-> Hey Jude Reprise. Hands down, no arguments. Cassidy perhaps also. They are having so much fun and the crowd is responding accordingly. The next night in Buffalo kept the high going...
